the storms over, lets have roll call, were flooded in collierville but safe,no lights out as of now,

No problems here, but we were driving through midtown trying to get home in the thick of it around 4:30. I was REALLY tempted to pull over and wait it out but worried about my house and critters. Came home to find doofus boy (my son) playing computer upstairs while the sirens were wailing without a thought to come down, check the TV and at least make sure a twister wasn't blowing through. All he had to say is ...

"We don't have to worry about these kind of storms in CA, right?"

I said ... "If you live to get there .... yeah ..."

OMG..........feeling blessed........ first we vacumed 60 gallons of water from our work warehouse, finally found a street open to drive home and our cove was flooded the water was up to a foot on the fence and another three inches and the house would have been flooded. I have lived here 12 yrs and never seen the water this high.
The Church on the square and the hardware store have lower levels and the water was three feet up on their door. Very Thankful tonight.

Glad everything is okay for you Malissa! What a scare!
Cathy good luck with your move you will be missed. I suspect we will still hear from you on here from time to time.

Most definitely ... I'll be checking in. I really hope to see the next group of new, energetic blood fire the club up again. :-) Change usually ends up being for the good.

Earthquakes.
Taxes.
Illegals.
Taxes.
Inflated housing prices.
Taxes.
Under-powered cars.
Taxes.
No Locally grown food in Fresno valley.
and Taxes.

Other than that, its no worries mate!

We'll be outside of the earthquake zone
Yes ... Taxes ... bummer ...
Illegals ....grew up in AZ ... used to it
Taxes ... yes
Inflated housing .... our kids are at that age where we are ready to downsize anyway and actually Memphis is down 30% and they're down 50% or more ... it's bargain time in Cali! Besides ... the weather is so nice, who needs a bigger house? We're looking for a bigger yard this time. :-)
Taxes .... yes, yes, yes
Under-powered cars ... not sure about that one
No locally grown food in Fresno Valley? We bought the most amazing fruits and vegetables off the corners and I couldn't believe how gorgeous the produce was in the grocery stores there. I thought Central Valley, CA is where most of the U.S. raised produce comes from across the U.S.?

You missed one - Pollution - Because of all the farming and spraying, God knows what the people there are breathing. Fresno is right at the base of the Sierra and Yosemite and when I was there in March, the haze was so bad you couldn't see the mountains.

We're gonna miss Memphis. :-(

WHY???!!!!!

(....with the exception of the good folks at WTMRAC, of course.)

There's a LOT of great things about Memphis! It's been a good place to raise our kids. I'm definitely happy to be moving back to family, and I'm happy to be close to ocean and mountains again, but we've been very happy here and I'm sure I'm going to miss it. This is home to my kids and I KNOW they're going to miss it a lot.

Oh I know.... I'm Just saying...... :)

I've traveled all over the world and actually had a chance to move back to Chicago a couple years back, but we opted to stay right here. Who'da thunk it?

It only took us six-years to "move" here. Nine years later, we're staying. I'm working for a MEM based company, got one kid at UofM, with two more to go. And a pair of local mortgages.

Add a 3/4 Ton tank and we're NOT moving anytime soon!

Now.... if someone could just Please explain this whole Shelby County vs. Memphis... "Thing", then I'd understand better.

I bet you're going to miss the friendly hand gestures while driving on 240. I miss those while driving in for training.

Arnold would tax the Democrats, if he thought he could get away with it. Now, even he finally said enough was enough, and started canceling programs. It's a problem for the CA State Legislature and their tax paying constituency.

They finally settled the budget without raising taxes ... at least this time. Their gouging here and there, though ... wherever they can. We'll be okay where we are.

Oh ... and the comment about the finger on 240 .... in SoCal I would worry that it would be as likely to be a handgun as a hand gesture.
