head office stepped in and demanded a change

ok so i love my metal halide fixture, and i don't have any problems with it. i never wanted to go back. BUT bulb replacement is expensive and i'm not a fan of led. she's concerned with how much it has costed us with hydro and she's sick of the heat .... i am REALLY BAD for changing my light fixtures. halide has probably been the best.

this light fixture will be going over a 150 gallon that measures 48x24x30. i was thinking of an 8x54watt T5 3x75 led ati led powermodule. but of course that's super expensive haha. i've had one before and it was great but i only had the 4 bulb version. if i were going led i would of purchased 2 radion pros.

the only issue i have in t5 alone is that it's flat.... i like shimmer too. any suggestions would be great

Since you have a working fixture it is going to take a long time to recoup the money to get an equally powered fixture of any flavor. I suspect t-5 will actually cost more in bulb replacement cost. Your cheapest option is actually to stay with what you have until it no longer works.

She doesn't care about that. I already sold the fixture I just need something to replace it.

If I have to go led I'm thinking of radion pro.

In that case, I will plug the AI hydra52. It is what I use and have been quite happy. Not sure how well either the AI or ETM will cover the 30" width. At 48 long you will need 3 of either running long axis front to back to get good coverage.

My bad. The tanks measurements are 48x24x30. Its tall. Its not 30" wide

No worries, still would go with 3 of either the AI or ETM. 24" is hard for either to cover well in the short axis once you get any kind of growth or if your scape is steep. It is just the nature of the light. Power and color will not be a problem.

A friend has always been stuck on AI has 6 AI Hydra 52's on his 60" x 27" x 27", he tried four and then added two more to get better coverage

Pardon? That was absolutely rude.

I'm not scared of my wife, it's a common joke shared with married men that are interested in their wifes opinions because they value and respect them and want to please them by including them out of love instead of disregard them.

That comment was really off sided and not really appropriate . I find it highly offensive and degrading

Ooooh I like results

I have had great growth and color with AI. Just need enough fixtures to prevent shading just like other LEDs. I like to show pictures and then people can decide for themselves to listen to me or not, haha. I am not an amazing reefer and every setback my tank has had was from me, nothing but good stuff from the lights though.

Anyway, are 2 radion pros going to have the coverage? what's the difference between radion pro and hydra 52. Why shouldn't I go with 3 hydra? Are pros a better quality?
