Heat Wave, Yeck! Any feedback on new cooler?

A little on the pricey side - though it's compact and looks good. I would wait for awhile until it's proven.

looks really pricey. what are the benefits / advantages over just a chiller? the fact that it just uses fans?

I was seriously thinking of the Deltec Eco Cooler, but works best installed outside. I don't have that option, so would be mildew heaven if I installed inside the house.

Just looking for another alternative to the chiller. I didn't see the gallon capacity when I looked at these earlier. Thought the Ocean 150 was for up to 150g tank, not 38g. Hummm...

I just found out power consumption from my local dealer. He says it is as follows on his list.
Ocean 60 16g 130w
Ocean 150 38g 100w
Ocean 300 76g 300w
Ocean 400 106g 300w
Ocean 600 153g 500w
Ocean 900 230g 500w

Do those use a Peltier device? I'm guessing so... specialty semiconductors tend to be a ripoff.

Yup. That's how they have the heating/cooling function :D

seriously, for $1K, why not buy a $500 air conditioner to keep the room cool...that way you can enjoy it too!

That's what I think. It would be pretty much useless if the room is 100 plus degree. Room AC plus couple fans for the tank and both (human and fish) are happy.. :D

my house is already pretty cool... it's all the equipment in the tank + lights that keeps the water much hotter.

In that case freezing your living room to keep the water temp down isn't the best option if your equipment runs hot. =P

FANS are your best friend Kinetic.. A lot of people use MH without a chiller... I use 250W MH on a 29G and I don't have a chiller And you don't have to freeze your living room either..

yeah on my 32g tank it seems ok with a fan, but I want to have a chiller just in case and for peace of mind for a potential "future" project ;)
