Heater Problems

I noticed that alot of my corals seem stressed in the past few days. Granted, I have moved everything into a 40g breeder with a 250W pendant about three weeks ago, but something just didn't seem right. My Won 300W heater controller was reading a steady 80F.

I stuck my hand in the tank to fix a coral and the water felt unusually warm. I went out and picked up a digital thermometer for the tank and it was registering 91F!!!!!!!

I immediately disconnected the heater and went to my back up heater, a 250W Won Pro Heater and it was set at 78, yet my tank was hovering around 85 and it was still on.

I have now yanked that one too and I ordered a 300W finnex with a digital controller online that I should have on Tuesday or Wednesday.

It appears as though I have lost my birdsnest, green slimer, blue slimer, a blue/purple tort, my green hynophora and a few other things are not looking real good. Hopefully I can save what is still partially alive.

Incredibly, some corals look fine. The orange and brown montipora digitatas look great, the orange montipora cap and grren cap are fine. My frogspawn looks good. My tri-color looks fine and a few hairy miliporas look great.

If anyone has any of the orange thin branched birdsnest that I have fragged, I would appreciate if I could get a small frag back. I still have a small piece of green slimer and blue slimer that I think should make it.

If anyone else has frags of the stuff that I have lost, please PM me. I am only looking for very small frags (1" or so).

Thanks.

Lew

Thats strange that both of your heaters malfunctioned simultaenously... I dont even have any corals to frag for you, but I do hope you can pull the rest of your livestock through. G/L

Lew,
I have frags of your Green and Blue Slimmers. If yours don't make it I can hook you up.

Scott

Thanks. I will let you know how I make out.

Frags

Lew,
Sorry to hear about that I often stick my hand in the tank just to make sure things are cool. It's strange that we spend all this money on monitors, probes, expensive heaters, and still I only trust is my hand:rolleyes: Anyway, I am not sure if I can get out that way this week, but I have frag of braching hydnophora I can trade you for the orange cap frag. It already has two small Branches growing from the main frag.
Thanks
