just a simple newbie question, is programming the heater to work within half a degree on/off too often? I just don't want to screw up the outlet or the heater itself going on and off too often. Right now it is around between 1-3hrs switchin on/off.
.5 degree is (IMO) too tight; usually 1-2 degrees is set (even built-in controllers for chillers use 1-2F). it won't hurt anything but as you have seen it will cycle more often.
I program my heaters to .1 degrees and my chiller to .5 degrees. I have Defer statements in each program to prevent them from "chattering". I have my heaters plugged into solid state outlets on my EB8s so no harm having them turn on and off multiple times an hour. I have 3 heaters, each programed to come on at successive .1 increments. My chiller only runs 2-6 times per day at ~30 minutes a crack which doesn't seem too abusive to me...
