Heavy detritus not siphoning up

hey guys i was trying to siphon out my sand bed and theres alot of thicker detritus in layers on my sand bed. when i go
to siphon it out it seems to just sit in the opening of the funnel and not sucked up like its to heavy or something . i was wondering if theres tips or tricks for it thanks

have you tried to stir it up? you don't have to completely disturb your sandbed but maybe displace it so you can suck it out. turn off your power heads.

also consider maybe increasing the flow a little lower so the detritus doesnt have a chance to settle.

python siphons use 5/8'. Try turning up the water faucet to increase the suction.
