Does anyone have or had these. Did you have good luck. Thinking I would like to have a pair. Looking for reasons to / or not to as they are costly.

Reasons to avoid firefish in general are they are nervous, paranoid and hide at the first sign of movement near the tank. They are also known jumpers if your tank isnt covered. It would be VERY irritating to find your $130 Helfrich’s went carpet surfing.

agree with sperry purple firefish are much nicer and a heck of a lot cheaper.

I disagree. I have 2 for more than a year and have lived with different other animals with no problem. All fish jumps. They are no different from wrasses to tangs. As far as color there is no comparison Helfrich's rule.

Ok I admit your Helfrich's are cool looking but personal opinion, I like the purple better.

Something to be aware of is that Firefish only live in groups as juveniles . As adults they live in male/female pairs. Two may coexist peacefully when small but as they mature you can end up with one opening a can of whoop *** on the other.

Drowzee would know. He went open top with his pair.
They refused to jump out even when I tapped on the glass when he left the room!
