Hello All

So I am just going to hang out here on RC and learn a bit more over the next few months. I was informed by my better half that doing a reef tanks was just fine with her as long as I got the rest of my house painted as well as buying her a new couch and a new TV for the family...after that I can go "all in". I am not normally the most patient person (normally i jump into something with both feet) but in this case I suppose patience is a virtue and learning it can only be of benefit for my future reef.

No harm in waiting and learning. In the meantime, I encourage you to feed your jones by reading user reports on the tanks you are most likely to buy. What tank owners are most satisfied? What are most discouraged? What do they list as the pros and cons of each tank. And perhaps most importantly, what are the modifications they most recommend. Good luck.

I second the read the reports on the tank manufacturers before you buy! Also consider strongly whether you want to drill your own tank and risk breaking it or buy pre drilled.
