I just wanted to let you all know that I am alive and well in the Phoenix metro area. I just wanted to give you an update on my reef.
I setup my 40g breeder in late 2007 after my summer move from Rochester. I have not had as much luck as I did in WNY with the tank. I went bare bottom again but I could never get very good growth in anything except a candy-cane coral that i grew from one head to about 75-100.
Anyway, recently I removed the starboard and have gone back to a crushed aragonite base. I re-aquascaped and then....the biggest move was I have moved away from the 250W DE MH with Phoenix 14k bulb and picked up the Aqua Illumination Sol Blue LED lighting system.
I have only had the new lights for a days, but they are amazing! Simulated sunrise and sunsets, thunderstorms....and the lighting uses only a fraction of the energy and produces almost no heat....
Here are a few picks:
I hope that all is well with my reef buddies in Upstate!
