Hi there :D
I would just like to intriduce myself. I am new to this forum , which may i add seems pretty cool
Soooo..... My name is megan and i live on Oxford in England , so miles away from most of you guys.
I have been keeping marines for around 18months now. I started off in a 30g as a FOWLR tank with a pair of common clowns [Amphiprion ocellaris] They were my first ever marine fish and are now 18 months old
4 green chromis [Chromis viridis] a mural goby [Valenciennea muralis] , and now i have moved on to a 450litre with sump 4ft 'reef in progress' which now also houses aswell as the above a starry blennie [Salarias ramosus] and a yellow tang [Zebrasoma flavescens] and 2 skunk cleaner shrimps.
I aniciall started my coral collection a few months ago; I have a lovley short tipped purple catalphyllia (elegance coral) , 2 small 1 headed torch corals ; yes i loves LPS :D , i also have some yellow star polyps so purple xenia some orange zoanthids and some long stemmed pink zoanthid and some neon green mushrooms.

I am undecided as what fish to have in my tank as well as the already inhabited fish.... soo many fish , such hard decisions!!

Coral wise.... my plans are to increase my LPS collection , create a zoa garden of as many different colours i can find i would also like to fill in the gaps wth other softies such as mushrooms and toadstool and polyps etc etc...

I have a current full tank shot , but please go easy...... It has only been running in the 4ft for around 3-4 weeks

Thankyou very much

still along way to go.... but isnt that all the fun with marines, take it slow and let it grow!

OOhhh oohhh i see you have a sea hare, i had one of those but my catalphyllia ate it :(

The general rule that I've learned is 1 in. of fish per gallon of water. Your tank size would optimally hold about 61 cm of fish. Your current population will grow to 94 cm when mature. If you really want to keep adding fish I would consistently do water tests to make sure the tank's not filling with toxins. You could try adding extra filtration if needed.

You do have a nice setup though. You can always take your time and find corals to fill the void.

Thankyou :) To be honest i am on no hurry to add any fish at all. But like you said fill the voids with corals :)

I do have a sump which houses my skimmer in the 1st section , i have a shallow sand bed with live rock and cheato in the 2nd chamber and the return pump, rhosphate remover and carbon in the 3rd.

What could i do to improve water quality or really maintain good water quality.

You really don't need to do anything at all unless your tests are giving you bad results. I test my water weekly and just decided to start testing nitrates because everything has been fine since I started my tank. Complete water tests will be done monthly now. I do a weekly 10% water change and run a PS, that's it.

You could probably benefit hearing from people who house more fish than people like me who stick to the minimalist approach. I have three small fish in my 50 gallon and I think that's all I'm going for right now.

Looks good. You can add some hardy LPS. You can get some nice kryptonite trumpet corals for color. Duncans are nice to have also. Frogspawn Euphyllia can't be beat.

I like snoopy!

Snoopy has sooooo much character , he is my favorite too!! At the moment he follows the gobie everywhere i think they're in love :love2:
I love oddballs, something that looks abit strange, hence the username ilovecowfishes!!! lol

Thanks for your comments

I knoooow i love LPS, i was thinking trumpets and candy canes and mabe a hammer head and some frogspawn. I also like acans and lobo's but that is in a long time to come.

your name is "ilovecowfishes" but no cowfish????

NO becasue i simply think that they should be housed in a very large environment which i cannot provide. booooooo..........I wish, maybe if i had 500gallons or something then i would consider it. I know people keep them in much smaller tanks but they are capable of growing huge!!

I never had a starry blennie only lawnmower blennies.I would imagine they act the same. They are not the most colorful fish out there but they are loaded with personality!!

oooh we both have a starry blenny, ~SNAP~

lol..yes...Frodo my starry.
Is yours a real jerk yet??
Mine is a mean nasty jerky!! He bites me everytime I clean or have to fix something!! Ugh! He also attacks scraper and magfloat! What a jerky! But I looooovvvveeee him sooooo!!!
My old starry use to sit in my hand, he'd let me pet him, he'd give me kisses!
Boy I miss him!!!! RIP

Well he seemed to be when i first for him, especially towards my gobie. But he just hovers on a rock near by when i put my hand in, my clowns on the other hand come over and try to sit on my hands :) they are soo cute, But snoopy is my most fav fish :love2:
A friend of mine on another forum has one the same from the same shop i got mine and he is a favorite too, he also has a lawnmower in one of his other tanks. Awesome fish, he also has a frag of my pink zoas too.
I would love a madarin fish , but i would worry myself todeath about it eating and i dont think snoopy would have an of it to be honest. He seem like he could be a bully.
