Hello

I propose it might be that we all may be approaching a bit more tougher financial times, plus it is summer when people are outdoors and not so attentive to their indoor reefs. So we might want to take that into consideration.

Since this forum is free (recommend supporting it however, I have yet to do it myself either,) it only costs our time. So maybe we could start a thread where people post whole tank shots in lieu of visiting. Then maybe we could have a vote to see whose tank would be the most in-demand to see in person.

Don't know just throwing around some cheap and easy ideas.

I'd like to see the Chico forum and Redding Forum should combine into one forum called Northern California Reefers. It would encompass redding, andersen, chico, red bluff, orland, gridley, oroville, durham, paradise, and any other surrounding areas I missed. That would be cool to have that!

Sounds like a good idea, but we actually attempted this before. The main concern was meeting attendance. I don't mind driving 45 minutes to an hour for something that I enjoy, but I have noticed that driving more than 10 minutes, a lot of locals act like it's across the state.

Speaking of driving, Reef-A-Palooza was great! Lots of new products coming out on the market soon.
Tons of corals and products for sale, and a lot of free give-aways.

There was a small fire in the building which added to the excitement, everyone was very cooperative. Once it was out and the fire department gave us the ok, it was back inside for more fun and shopping.

Dixon frag swap is also a great event. You guys should plan on being there.

So what did you buy BBishop? At anything ground breaking unveiled there that we should all know about?

Nevermind, a little research paid off. I guess I can say Welcome back to the hobby Jason, This is Brian, that you ran into at the store the other day.
It was good seeing you again, I think the last time I saw you was about 15 years ago, you were working at the gas station on the old cruise.
Hopefully we can get together and catch up sometime.

If you need help getting set up let us know, and I can probablly frag a few small zoanthid frags for you if your interested.

I'm trying to get a hold of Tim and find out when and where the next club meeting is too if your interested.

You also might see if you can manage to make the frag swap in sacramento on Oct. 6.

krowleey (Justin?),

Welcome back?!? Please feel free to describe and even post pics of your setup here. You'd be surprised how many people can sponge or springboard off any ideas you may have.

Also I've recently received contact from one person possibly representing a group of people in the Grass Valley area who are interested in the Chico Club. I've seen how the North Valley Reef Club (actually serving the are south of Sacramento? I know - maybe should specify North San Joaquin Valley...) They have every other month off. We could easily support that kind of schedule but instead of having an off month actually hold the main meetings at different locals throught the North Valley. But that may pose a problem to officer that would need to attend Nearly All meetings. Gotta go for now will post more later.

Hey Brian, guess that means im busted hehe. i felt kinda bad i didn't buy my gear from the store, but i got a pretty darn good deal ll things considered. My tanks not set up yet, i am finishing painting the stand and canopy now, i have already painted the back of the tank.

I have the 40 breeder for the sump, and glass baffles cut, just have to silicone them in, im thinking this weekend when im off work. Im moving sep 15th into a house out of this apt, so im setting the tank up there, my goal is to have everything ready to roll for day one so i get things cycling etc.

Boviac, im not Justin, im Jason hehe. and Bbishop, sorry but i don't have a waterfall in my house, although that sounds pretty damn cool! I would love to attend club meetings, is there a annual fee? And I would for sure love zoo frags, they are one of my favorite softys.

Don't worry about not buying it from the store, everyone shops around, that's what competition is about. Just glad to hear you found a set up and got started.
Besides the store makes more off of the stuff you buy to put in the tank, then they do off the tank.

As far as frags go, I am setting up a few pieces for a frag swap in October, so as I do it, I will see if I can clip a few more here and there.
And then I can meet up with you some time, that will also give you about three or four weeks to get your tank cycled.

Krowleey, welcome! I'm part of the Chico Reef Club but I come on the Redding forum to say hi to the guys here.

If would be great if you could go to the Redding meetings and if you have time, come to the Chico meeting as well.

We are gonna have sand swap, macro algae swaps, raffles, and frag swap/sell in September!

Mike

Yes Jason/Justin (sorry),

Please come to the Chico meeting especially if you like to frag zoo's. There will be a presentation by Mike about zoos.

as soon as im moved and my tank is set up, i will be there fellas! at least some of the chico ones, i would like to see some ppl in redding getting together for sure.

Well there is a redding club, but I have no idea when, and where the next meeting is, I tried e-mailing some people, but never got a reply....

that sucks, wonder why ppl are not active in redding so much, its a pretty big place you would think there is some reefers here. but then again people do think using tap water here is okay hehe
