I just wanted to say "Hello" to everyone in the Fort Wayne area. I am new to reef keeping and have been doing a LOT of reading on the subject lately. I just moved to Fort Wayne with my wife about a year ago now from Ohio.

I am currently in the process of setting up a 90 gallon reef tank. The goal is to create a mixed reef. So far here is what I have purchased:

- 90 gallon aquarium from Petware House
- MSX160 Protein Skimmer from Marine Solutions
- Custom built stand and canopy (friend is working on this)

I will probably be purchasing my lighting today. The plan is to retrofit it to my canopy. I am probably going to go with:

- 2 x Lumen 2 Pendants (SE)
- 2 x 250w Gallaxy Electronic Ballast
- 1 x Icecap 48in 2 Bulb T5HO Retro Kit

I have yet to decide on bulbs but I am thinking either Reeflux 10k with one blue plus and one actinic or Phoenix 14k with two actinics.

Anyways, I just wanted to say "Hello" to everyone and I look forward to meeting and learning from each of you.

Welcome to the group. If you are looking for anything specific, always ask here first. You never know what some of us have just laying around collecting dust.

I have the XM 10k, and I like that one for the growth of my SPS. It would look nicer with a good actinic though.

I was seriously considering the XM 10K, but from pictures I have seen it looks much to yellow for me. I prefer the white light with a hint of blue. Based on my research the only real way to get that look is to go with the Reeflux 10k with T5 supplements. I think the Phoenix would probably be a great bulb, but again from pics it appears it would be to blue for me.

Just curious. Just trying to figure out where everyone on the page is at. Anyway welcome to the page, and feel free to come to the meetings we will start up again in the fall.

Welcome, yes the phoenix 14k is a tad on the blue side I think the 10k supplemented with T5s is the way to go.
