So I just got my first clam today and was wondering if it is normal for it to be gaping this wide? Is this a bad sign? The clam itself is about 2.5" Thanks for any input you can provide!

T.crocea are known to gap more than other tridacnids . The picture is small or maybe my eyes aren't as good as they use to be but looks like mantle extension is good. Does it retract to shadows well?

Looks good to me. :)

Well don't know about the shadows yet, but it'll retract if the tang swims by...

Is it possible to tank feed this clam or is it too small to do that? Also, I've read that crocceas need more intense light, I have live rock that's shelf-like near the top of the tank, should i move the clam up there? The water flow is much higher there though.

but it'll retract if the tang swims by

That is very good sign. :)

T. crocea are the most like hungry of the Tridacnids. As far as water movement, as long as the mantles are not moving a lot and the clam is not getting a constent burst all the time or it may not expands his mantle fully.
