HELP!!!!! Anemone Hiding

I just got a BTA and I a few hours after I put it in the tank it went into the rock work. I was able to get it out after moving the rock (I did not want to do that) re scaped the tank and it did the same thing again overnight. What should I do leave it there or tear the tank apart again?

just leave him be! your just stressing it out! give it time to adjust.

I've known them to stay in the rocks for a couple of weeks after being introduced. Only move it if it's in danger (like, too close to a powerhead or something).

Thanks to all of you for the help it is a relief to know hell be okay. My GSM Clown is already very protctive of it lol. How will he eat in the rocks?

Right now, it's more important that it get acclimated. It doesn't need to eat. I'm a little concerned about the clown harassing the anemone, though. How big is the nem in comparison to the fish? GSMs are known to "love" anemones to death. Can you remove the clown or shelter the nem until it settles in?

I do have a 10 gallon that he could go in if I moved my GSP and 2 percs. He may be to big for the 10. The GSM is about 2 1/2 and the BTA is about 3 1/2. He seems to be leaving it alone now but I am concerned about it being in the rock and not coming out.

Give it time....mine have needed to choose their own spot in the tank. Hth's!

Just leave the nem alone. It will find a spot with a good flow and light.. But you should hope that it would find a spot in front of the tank...

I would say just keep an eye on them. The anemone should come out eventually as long as it's not being harassed. As I said above, I've had them hide for a couple of weeks before they get acclimated. Our displays are usually set up so that the front of the rocks gets the most light, so mine have always eventually settled where I could see them.

Well after work last night I went home and looked near the back of the tank, the BTA looked flat. So I moved the rock and it was mutilated and flat, it appears the clown fish killed it. Thanks to all for the advice and replies.

this is probably too late to ask...
You didn't get rid of it did you? If it was deflated and flat it probably was doing an internal water change. This is one of the BTA's acclimation process. They look pretty pathetic when they are doing this almost like they are dead. Then a couple of hours the BTA will inflate again. How you can tell if a BTA is dead..the anemone is falling apart or they have a rancid smell.

It was falling apart and stringy, It had a real foul smell.

The first anemones i bought where 2 tiny ones, and my clownfish killed the 2 of them. I only gonna by really big ones now, because the ones i got now can handle my clownfish and are already eating fish.

Next time buy a anemone thats 3/4 times bigger as your clownfish, i hope it will help
