Im such a idiot!
I noticed i had lower ph then i wanted 8.0 so i turned on the dosing pump to take it up to 8.2 but i forgot it was 8.8 when i remembered so i have been taking out water and putting in fresh RODI water ive done this two times now and the ph is down to 8.6 now should i keep doing this or what should i do im really concerned because this i have never done before will things be ok?
please respond quickly!
thanks

You are lowering the salnity by putting RO water. Just make regular water changes with saltwater.

I wouldn't do anything, it will come down on it's own. Don't dose to adjust ph unless it gets really low, a ph below 8 is not going to hurt anything.

If your taking out saltwater and replacing it with RO/DI water your causing another problem. If you remove saltwater you have to replace saltwater.

A ph of 8.0 isn't/wasn't bad enough to warrant such a mistake. My ph is at 7.8 with no problems and tons of growth. Not sure why people obsess over a tenth here or there.

Remember good things happen slowly bad things happen quickly.

thanks everyone the thing i was most worried about is the big swing in the ph being that i have sps and a clam.
i will do some testing and i wont take out anymore saltwater and add just rodi.

You can also add very small doses, 1 tsp or so at a time, of white vinegar to lower your pH if it happens again. Should probably only be done in emergencies. At this point, just let it come down on its own.

I recently had a kalk overdose and woke up to find my pH at 9.63. Using vinegar, I got it down to 8.6 in about 4 hours and only lost 1 fish, the coral was not happy but survived.

Yeah, 8.0 is OK. That's within range if you take test calibration error into account. You'll probably see your pH drop back down pretty quickly now that you've turned off the pump. Watching the pH on my ReefKeeper I will see a jump of .2-.3 while the dosing pump is running that quickly slides off once the pump shuts down. Check you KH and pH and then again in a few hours and I'm betting that you're back to normal by the time you do the second test.
