I bought a blue tang last wed, so 9 days ago he has been doing great. i know they are very prone to ich so i bought him from a very reputable lfs well not very local 2.5 hrs away. he has been doing great, i noticed a couple spots of ich on him on day 3 or 4 maybe 3-5 spots nothing major then it cleared up completely. Yesterday it appeared again a little worse, and today even worse. knowing that blue tangs are very prone to ich i raised the water temp to 81, before aclimating, I have also been feeding algae enriched brine shrimp, with garlic extract also nori with garlic extract and New Life Spectrum Thera+A. I have been feeding 2 times daily and he has been eating like a pig, seems very healthy other than the ich. I also dosed the last bit of marine max when i aclimated him and have added some stress coat a couple of times. I have a 29 gallon QT tank that has no water in it. I can to a 25g or so water change and put the dirty water in the 29 and treat him i really would rathe rnot because i know he is going to be a bugger to catch.

The tang is about 5.5" so he is not real small and delicate, what will be my best bet to save this fish, what would you do. (i now know why you QT, i havent had problems until now.

i hate to say this but your display now has ich you are going to have to get evey fish into q/t and treat them. leave your display emty of fish for 6 weeks, 8 to be sure.

if you dont your tang will just get ich again when you reintroduce it.

also your other fish will no doubt be affected.

hypo is a good way to go watch your ph though check it daily and kepp it right.

Welcome to the lovely world of Hippo's....

I came home Saturday night to find that mine now has pop eye! I have him in QT now and the swelling has gone down. But I think that he may be blind.
