I just have his Real name and number so not sure if I am allowed to do that on the forums no clue if he is on reef central.
 
Maybe you can ask some of the nice reef peeps on this forum if they have a similar spare pump to see if they have a propeller laying around to sell ,or to try their propeller to see if the pump even works ....if I had the same pump I would help you out ......I know FAOIS got me an aftermarket propeller once is was cheaper than the manufacture and its still running strong after two years ...hopefully the pump works fine and you can get a propeller cheap enough that the total price will be the same as a new pump or under... good luck��

Say what? I didn't see that story, that is insane. I definitely agree though, post his name, if he's bold enough to blatantly rip someone off he deserves others to know about it.
 
Okay Well his Name is William Basket not positive on the spelling but that was the info I had on him if anybody else bought something from him I do have his number if they need it. All I know his he has a 300 Gallon Tank. I know I could try small claims but its 50 bucks to file and really not worth it. Now if there was multiple people who got ripped off than it might be. But other than that having a family and how crazy people or these days I don't think I am going to really hassle him much more.

But if anybody has a a Life guard Aquatic Quite One 5000 maybe I could borrow or just bring my pump over and check if it works they do run 23 to 25 dollars from the manufacture plus shipping for the impeller, so I would be at the cost of a new if go that route I just don't want to dump more money into it with out knowing if it even works.
 
I just received another complaint of faulty equipment and we believe the sellers are the same party you are now having issue with. I’m sure the sellers in question are monitoring this thread; let it be known that their welcome at future FAOIS events is in jeopardy. The garage sale is held in a mutualistic spirit of helping both fellow hobbyists and one’s self. There are enough parasitic vultures that care only about lining their pockets in this hobby/industry. The ichthyman has a very good memory, holds a grudge, thinks public shaming works wonders and has no problem cutting ties, i.e. losing “business”, with the undesirables of this world.

I’m hoping for a positive outcome and apologize for FAOIS’ part in these “bad” deals. Most of the sellers at this event we know personally and are upstanding people of character. It’s a shame that a couple bad apples tarnish an otherwise positive event.
 
Does this guy have a Facebook? Maybe look him up and post a picture so everyone knows the face if anyone is to do a sale with this individual? It sounds like we are setting up a lynching mob haha
 
Very unfortunate this happened but not surprising....Predators everywhere even in the reefing hobby.

Not to happy with my purchase from them either. I bought a Mag 9.5, granted I only paid 10 bucks for it. That being said I thought I got a great deal. I get home plug it in turns on but impeller is broken. So I bite the bullet and buy a new impeller. Install it and the motor block runs for a few seconds then stops repeatedly. I left it run like that for a little while well guess what because of the start and stopping it broke the new impeller. It really is as shame that these guys knowing the the good reputation and honesty John and his team strive to maintain used that to there advantage to sell bad equipment knowing that sale attracts a lot of people. Not upset about the money as much as I am that it seems these guys just took advantage of FAOIS's trusting and loyal customers. :thumbdown.
 
Wow, this guy is a POS for sure. Remember Ahole Mr. Baskett, what comes around goes around in this life. You will surely get yours in the end. All over a couple hundred bucks ..... or wait, I will bet this is how he lives his life.. screwing people.
