Help choosing sand size

I have been looking at different types of argonite sand, and there are 2 different sizes available.

A fine sand that is .50 to 1.85 grain size

A medium sand that is 2.0 to 5.50 grain size.

I am setting up a reef tank, where I plan on having a 2 to 3 inch layer.

Which size would be better and why if possible.

The smaller the particle size the more surface area you will have. The more surface area, the more the sand is actually doing. Go for the smaller grain and you should be fine.

Where can I find the sugar fine grade of sand. I have been looking around and can not seem to find it.
