Help chosing my return pump!

I'm currently setting up a 20gal mixed reef with what will probably be a 20gal sump/fuge. I've got a HOTB overflow box that is rated at 600gph. What I'm not sure of, is what size return pump should I use from the sump back to the display? I know you want pretty low flow through the fuge, sooo... what would you all go with?

Thanks!

bump, hopin for some help here, would like to place an order for the parts tonight...

Thanks for lookin!

i went with a mag 9...but i am thinking i may have a little too much flow through the sump...i dont have a skimmer so it isnt a big deal right now...my fuge runs directly off my sump (built in) but during testing the water flow though it doesnt seem to even move..the majority of the flow seems to just rip right though the bubble traps and back into the tank..

i should have gone with a mag 4 pr 7 for the return and a slightly larger pump for the CL...but oh well it only has to run like this for a year or so...then i get a bigger tank..LOL

sounds good... i was debating between a mag 4 or 5 and a quiet one 1200 or 3000... Ive heard that the mags run kinda hot though...

I'd suggest something in the 500 gph range (before head loss). Mag5 and Quiet One 2200 come to mind as inexpensive options. Your sump/fuge wont' do it's job if there is too much flow through it.

consider an eheim 1260 with a ballvalve. mag9 is way too powerful. the return should yeild a slower rate at the return that the overflow
