Issue: Why is my water clouding up every day and then clearing by days end and when will this stop?

I appear to be getting daily diatom blooms with cloudy water that clear by end of day. The water starts clouding in the morning and reaches its apex or most cloudy point around mid-day. Then by mid afternoon the water starts to clear and runs almost crystal clear by day end. This has been happening every day for about a week now. My lights start at 7:30am and run to 7:30 pm on a pretty consistent 12 hour cycle. I feed 1 cube of Mysis shrimp 2 times a day in the morning and evening with garlic. I supplement with Nori on a clip and a pinch of new life spectrum pellets during the day.

Water values:
20%water changes weekly since cycle finished with 3ml No3Po4 daily for past week
No3 = 2-4 PPM
Po4 .08 PPM
Other Supplementation Red Sea Full Red Sea Reef Care Program purchased but not started yet as no corals added to the tank and Ca,KH,Mg tested no dosing required

Are you really feeding 2 cubes of mysis, 1 sheet of nori and pinch of pellets daily?

Sounds like WAY too much food IMO for your tank..

Yes 1 cube mysis in the am and 1 cube in the pm gone. The nori is 1 inch by 1 inch strips maybe twice a day and sometimes at EOD i do a very small pic of spectrum. Are you saying that is too much and is causing my daily diatom bloom?

It certainly sounds like WAY..WAY too much food IMO..

Now I believe you also stated that you started carbon dosing (nopox) around the same time as the cloudiness happened.. Is that correct?
Carbon dosing can also cause bacterial blooms that look like cloudy water too..

Of course it also sounds like your tank has only been cycled for 10 days?...
Tanks take time to fully mature and 10 days is NOT enough and its possible that it simply cannot take the current bioload..
In this hobby going slow is the smartest move.. Sadly some local fish stores really don't care if you have a horrible tank/kill animals,etc.. they just want to load you up with stuff to buy to make them money vs doing it properly..

I'm going to avoid getting on your case about the hippo tang in such a small tank too.. I hope you have plans to take it back in the near future..

Seems like you enjoyed the Nemo movies though.. :p

Thank you and good to know...based upon my livestock list how much should I be feeding them please. They aggressively eat all the food i am currently feeding them. Especially the Mysis.

Yes started No3PO4 Red Sea NoPox last week as well. I had Diatom Algea outbreaks before but not with cloudy water like this once a day that clears by end of day. Wondering if i should trim back on the NoPox since my values are pretty low?

Thank you for all the help

Don't want to jump on the bandwagon here but all those fish in a 45 gal box is pushing it from what I've read. Salt water fish need more turf. Unfortunately you might witness this process in action when your 3 chromis population turns to 1. And your Clowns will probably go to clown singular as well. Look I know I'm going to upset some folks here but I'm not all about the fish suffer kinda guy I mean after all I eat fish! But it is never pleasant for me as a fish keeper to watch one fish pick on another fish till it dies, just not my idea of an enjoyable stress reducing time. So long post short might want to rethink your stocking of that tank and get 3 or so fish that will live stress free in that setup. And cloudy water sounds more bacterial then diatoms, but I'm far from an expert.

Figured it out

Figured it out

It was in the beginning too high a dose of NoPox the when i cut that back the balance was the light. I had the settings on too bright and too long. It was causing daily diatom blooms. Once i cut the light back and did a 50% water change the cloudiness cleared.
