Please check this pic and help me Id my clownfish problem. I don't think is Black Ich although he scratches a lot on my zoas and spend lots of time with my cleaner fish. I think it may be some bacterial problem. Please help so I can treat it correctly. Thanks!

The spots are too large to be black ich. As you've already guessed, a bacterial infection is a definite possibility. Did the clown already have these splotches before rubbing on the zoas? I'm wondering if they could be stings from the zoas. Do you have a QT? I'm thinking he might need to be transferred into one soon for further observation/treatment.

Yes, the blotches appeared first, then the scratching stated and more blotches appeared. It lost appetite for a day or two but is being eating like crazy the past couple of weeks. He eats Spectrum There + A. I went to the LFS and they told me to use microbe lift artemiss. I researched it but was not convinced. Also they said it was reef safe but I don't like to add chemicals to my Nuvo 8 that can harm my corals. What treatment should I use?

What treatment should I use?

If it were my fish, I'd take the wait and see approach. But I'd also get a QT ready just in case. If those splotches continue to spread/get worse, I would QT and treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic such as Furan-2. The only thing you can do in the DT to help the clown is soak your fish food in some vitamin supplements and step up your WCs. I wouldn't waste time/money on anything herbal based. A UV may (or may not) help with bacterial infections, but most people don't have one of those just laying around.

I have a two head Frogspawn and a very tiny Hammer, but have not seem him near them (at leak when I am looking)...But based on the fact he is behaving normally, I will wait it out. As long as he keeps his appetite I guess he should be ok. Will the blotches fade out with time?

What kind on vitamin supplement can I use to soak his food. I give him Spectrum +A twice daily and mysis 2-3 times a week when I feed my corals.

Selcon, Zoecon, Vita-chem are the most commonly available. May not help, but it also can't hurt. The coral sting theory is also a possibility. Less likely with a clown though.

Will the blotches ever go away? Other than that he is a pig eating all Spectra +A pellets and mysis. No signs of health problems but I wish to see his skin clear out.

Definately looks like typical spotting from clowns that hang out in a stinging coral. I have a clown that hosts a frogspawn.....he looks the same. No need to worry, but I freaked out the first time I noticed the spots as well! Lol

PLEASE HELP!!! New problem...I am noticing his dorsal fin becoming white an loosing the black edge. I am going on vacations for 4 days on Sat. How can I make an emergency QT. I have 400.00 worth of frags in my tank and a firefish + skunk cleaner shrimp. I am concerned that if I leave the clownfish in the display tank as it is only 8 gals. I'll come back to a crashed tank and loose everything.

I while ago I purchased an air pump/tube/airstone and heater. Can I make a QT in a 5 gal bucket with the pump and heater and leave the clownfish for a few days?

Please advise, I don't want to have to risk my tank over the weekend.
