Hi everyone,

I need a little help.... My clown has been doing fine for about a month, she's been swimming around fine, and eating with no problems, until yesterday I noticed her swimming strangly. I went to two local fish stores and told them about my problem, they told me to do a fresh water dip, and I did. I made sure the temp and ph was exactly as my tank is, and dipped her for about 4 minutes. I don't notice any difference yet. If she lives till tomorrow, I plan on doing another freshwater dip. Is there anything else I should do? And what could this be, and what could of been the cause?

tank parameters are as follows:

Temp 77 - 1 degree fluctuation usually a day
PH - 8.2
Ammo - 0
Nitrite - 0
Nitrate - 20
Salinity is at 1.023

Here is the video from youtube.

Thanks Everyone

What are her tank mates? This could be a stress reaction. Is she breathing hard? Is there anything on the body? Sorry can't tell from the video.

Its a 100 Gallon Fish only tank. It's been up and running for a little over 2 months.

For filtration I'm using the following:
1x Magnum 350 deluxe - I'm using the micron filter not the carbon
2x Penguin 200's with carbon inserts in both
1x Remora Pro with a Mag 3 pump
2x Maxi-Jet 1200's with sponge prefilter

Her tank mates are as follows:
3x Yellow tailed damsels (they don't seem to be bothering the clown)
1x Yellow Tang
1x Strawberry Basslet
1x Percula clown (in need of help)
20x various snails, mexican turbo, and nassaurius snails.

hope this info helps everyone out, and thanks for the reply.

oh, forgot to add, she is breathing hard, and my wife and I can't see anything on her body at all.

That clown of your looks like a WC clown. Most of the WC clowns get internal parasites. Best thing to do is get it to a QT and treat it.

I don't really like the idea of dipping fish in fresh water. I find it very stressful for them. Dipping a fish thats already stressed will only stress it out even more. That is most likely the reason it's breathing real hard now. Usually people only dip when they see slime on the clown.
