I just tested my dKH and it's 14! I've heard of the effects of alk burn and I don't want it to happen to me. How do I lower my dKH fast? Will a water change help?
I would stop the kalk too. Just let the alk drop on it's own to 9.0 Then try to maintain it there. Remember nothing fast happening is good in a reef tank.
Stop dosing kalk and check alk level daily that way you a picture of your alk consumption, which will make it easier to maintain once you hit 9dkh. This will also help you from over dosing in the future.
my corals were hardly growing, so increase my alkalinity to between 12 - 14, now they are growing like mad, so I figure stability is everything.
tank is quite small though, so maybe it just works because it's small and packed with sps
