Hi!! i´ve always used the dKh salifert kit, but i read a couple of times that the LaMotte is the must exact, and i bougth it, but i don´t undertand well.

the reading is at the fist change to purple, or wen is like the table color? because the color change is slowly and the firts purples are so darks and deep.

what about the red color?

what about the muriatic acid table?

thanks!

Felipe

Once the color is that dark bluish color slowly add one drop at a time until the color turns that endpoint color(purple) then stop adding the tritation fluid. You note the mark of the syringe then divide that number by 50. You then multiply the result by 2.8 to get you DKH. For instance, You added the drops to the sample water and it turned purple(endpoint color), you note that the mark on the syringe is at 150. Take the 150 and divide it by 50=3. Now multiply the 3 to 2.8=8.4 this would be your DKH result.

After I get to the end point it goes back to a deeper purple after about 15-30 seconds. Is this the end point or do I need to add additional titrant till it holds the endpoint color.

Once it holds the color on the card(purple) wait to see if it changes to a darker purple for 30 seconds. If it doesn't change to the darker purple then read the number on the syringe. Take that number and divide by 17.9, this is your alkalinity. I love this test kit.
