HELP! don't know whats going on!

How long has the yellow coris been in the tank?I know yellow coris are supposed to be reef safe but I dont trust any with the clams except the fairy wrasse family. One yellow coris can be fine in a tank and another may not. ive learned that fish have different personalities even though they are the exact same species. I know other people who keep blue hippos with their clams just fine but mine takes chunks out of mantles quickly. It took me a while to catch my radiant nipping my clams but once he did they were afraid to expand their mantles fully. Just a thought.

hmmm. the coris SHOULD be fine with the clams. they are actually favored fish because they are very good at getting rid of pyramid snails, and other sps predators. i have a friend with 10 yellow coris wrasses, and his clams are fine.
tangs however, are unpredictable, especially purple tangs.

I'll step aside and let you pros figure it out. I was just speaking on my own experiences with wrasses and trying to help.

Do you have any angels? Looks like a coral beauty in the fts on the left hand side of the tank but I can't quite make it out.

I meant the right side of the tank...:)

about 7 months ago i found the coral beauty nipping at the clam and he got a ride back to the fish store immediately. I've heard of some coral beautys that don't nip at clams and I've heard some that do. I decided to take a chance and try. The coral beauty has long since been gone everything else in there has been a model citizen. It has worsened from last night and I am totally confused as to why this happened... i loved that clam. i don't think he's gonna pull through. i truly don't know what I could have done to keep this from happening and now i'm afraid to buy another one in fear i may kill that one too....

Do the bottle method of isolation asap, it may not be too late yet. Or if you have a sump with a refugium and good lights place it in the fuge.
