HELP! Emergency power outage!

We have a generator for the house and I can't tell you how many times it has saved my freshwater tanks. My saltwater tank is still fairly new and it has already been a help because the summer storms knock the power out all the time. It gives me peace of mind, especially when I am working or just not home. Its nice having one that can power the whole house, but if I didn't have that, I would for sure have a small one that would kick on if the power was out to keep the tanks going.

Any apartment dwellers have gennys? Idk if that would fly with my landlord, they have to be outside right? For now I just have the phs and heaters on diff circuits so at least if I blow a fuse the tank won't crash. Maybe I'll look into the battery backups...

^ id be running a big long cord to the window.

If the land lord said anything I'd be telling him to buy a standby unit for the building if he didn't like it.
