HELP Female Blue Throat Trigger in Quarantine Gilling Rapidly

Hey Everyone:

I purchased a female blue throat trigger last Saturday.

When I brought her home and put her in QT I noticed a Huge amount of ICH on her body which I couldn't see at the store due to the lighting.

I immediately started the hypo treatment and slowly brought the salinity of the water down to 1.009 over 4 days.

I got home today and noticed her Upside-down gilling extremely rapidly like she's strugling to breathe...

I'm not sure what to do. Should I raise the salinity? I tested amonia and Nitrite and they are 0. I even added a small dose of prime just incase.

Could it be a bacterial infection?

Whats the ph at?Hypo cause unstable water which needs buffering if it gets to low.

How about providing some more info about the QT setup - stuff like aeration, filter type, water temp - that sort of thing. Gilling can be a result of low oxygen in the water - so adding an airpump and stone can help.

That's what I was thinking, an air stone might help if that's the issue. Otherwise, I agree with Keith, it's possible that you have a very low pH at such a low salinity, and other water parameters might not be in check.

Fast gill plate movement can also be due to fear.

If I already see ich, I won't do hypo but copper at once. When there is not longer ich seen, I would go hypo if I want to.

Yes, make sure that gaseous exchange is enough; often neglected.
