Hi, I have a 90 gallon reef tank, and inside i have about 5 fish. One fish, a yellow coris wrasse had a bug that was white which stuck to its body and sucked its blood, and within 15 minutes the wrasse died. I took the dead coris out and i pulled the parasite out of the wrasse and cut it in half, and the parasite was filled with blood that leaked out. So basically at first the parasite was white on the wrasses skin then after it became brownish black after my coris was dead. Sometimes i also see this on my other fish but they seem fine. But now 2 of my fishes are dead due to this. Please help me if you know any way to cure this problem or even the name of the parasite. Thank you

I think what you are talking about was described in the "Marine Invertebrates" book. I can't find my copy otherwise I could be of a little more help. The book shows a picture of a bat or spade fish, if I recall correctly, with your little 'bug' attached. From what I remember, you may have to pull all of your fish out for 6 to 8 weeks to starve the 'bug' to death. There may have been other options, but thats all I remember.

Sorry you lost your fish. A friend of mine went through the same thing. He took all his fish out for about a month and they were gone. Good luck!

Alright thanks for your suggestions. I was just wondering if there was any medication or other ways of removing these bugs because i have too many live rock and i doubt i will be able to catch all my fish and put them into another tank. So bascially I was just wondering if there was any medication or any other methods of geting rid of these bugs. Thanks for all the help.

There are lots of medications that will kill your little 'bug', but they will kill every other invert too. As far as I know, there is no easy way out of this one, sorry.

Good luck,
Jason
