help..fish twitching and fins gone ??

I posted this in the disease forum but didnt get an answer so i thought i'd try here. Put pj cardinal in quarantine yesterday morning and he is not eating, twitching super bad and his fins are disappearing..any ideas of what his could be or what we should medicate with?? TIA

is tank cycled? did u check for chlorine?

What type of water do you use to mix salt?what are the ammonia, nitrite, nitrate levels on your tank? How long or did you acclimate? Process by which you did this? Water temp? Lots of variables here.

yes tank is cycled
no ammonia
temp 79
did not check for chlorine because we use ro/di salt water
did not check nitrite or nitrates either

yes we did drip acclimation as indicated from live aquaria..we ordered 3 fish and 2 were dead on arrival.

Is he swimming around or listless?

There is no sure fire way to know whats going on, but fin rot often means a bacterial infection. They usually come long with body growths and/or lesions as well, but the fish looks clean in your pic. Furan-2 is a good broad band antibiotic to try if you want to try to treat.

He is swimming and now eating and the twitching has calmed down....only thing now is the fins are broken off but not sure if they will repair on their own or not.

Ok that's good. If this was my fish, I'd keep an eye on him without any meds for now, but would also make sure I had likely needed meds on hand should things start to go south. Fins repair on their own and do it rather quickly IME.
