I killed ALL that Coral!
I have a Kodak 10 MP camera and a tripod. I would like to take better pics of my tank and corals. I'm looking for any articles to help me set up the camera and get started.

Thanks in advance

Have you checked out the article in the "image posting, technique, shopping, wb tips etc. " sticky? They tend to be geared toward SLR cameras, but many, if not all, of the techniques can be applied with P&S cameras. A lot depends on the amount of control your camera allows you. Some have very few manual settings and only allow jpg capture, which limits you somewhat. Other models allow you to control all the same things a DSLR does in addition to saving the "raw" image. For these cameras, other than being able to change lenses, you can have almost as much flexibility as a DSLR.

As you come up with more questions, be sure to let us know what model camera you have, since there is a world of differences between the plethora of fixed lens digital cameras out there.

Thanks, I've read the sticky. The focus thing is kicking my butt at the moment. I think I'm limiting by my camera here...I'm working with a kodak easyshare M340, no manual focus abilities. I'll keep playing with it. I know I won't be be able to take the crazy close ups, I'd just like some clear shots of individual corals.

all lenses ( or camera's) have a minimum focusing distance. make sure you aren't closer than that, or you will have trouble. I just looked up your camera, and it has a built in macro mode, which can be quite good on some P&S. This will let you get closer to the subject, and get those nice close up pictures. Good luck, take lots of pictures and you will get the hang of it.

about 200 pics later and I have one that turned out ok. I got depth thing figured out but I didn't write down the color settings I took this with and the camera went back to default when I shut it off:uzi:

better than when I started yesterday! thanks folks
