Help, French not breathing through one gill.

My French angelfish is not breathing through one of it's gills. The other gill is breathing rapidly to keep up.

The fish was in a tank that was not in the best shape for the last week because the sump leaked, so I had to run it with just a power head and a heater. I moved him to a new tank today and about an hour later we noticed that he was only breathing with one gill. This is something I have never seen him do before and I have had him for years.

When he was in the old tank before I moved him he was hanging out in a corner and he had a temperature probe sitting in his gill for a minute. I tried to scare him away from it so it would come out, but it almost seemed as if he wanted it there. I did manage to get him away from it....

Could it just be stress and shock of the move? Anyone seen this before? Currently his temp and salinity are ok, but I know that the water is not perfectly clean.
