Help! Gill Infection [Pics]

I have had my Maroon clown for about 2 and a half years now and hes always been fine, though over the last month he has developed a bubbly growth in one of his gills and it seems to be taking over his gill somewhat like a tumor, i am worried, it doesnt look like the sort of thing that he can get over or out grow. I have never seen nor heard of this before in clown fish or any other fish, please have a look and any advise or diagnosis would be much appreciated, very treasured fish, not easy to come across where im from.

I have not seen anything like that.

There is a fish pathologist in AU, he used to be a member on this site (maybe still is). His name escapes me atm, and I do not have all my old bookmarks on this laptop. Maybe one of the old timers on this board will know whom I am talking about and they will put you in touch with him. He should be able to help.

Thankyou guys for the links il be sure to check em out and get back to you with what i find. Thanks for the tips giambi4343 but i work at a LFS and having never seen it before in the shop i thought i was in a bit of trouble.

oouch- sorry to see your clown struggling! what are you feeding it? I think it would be a good idea to try to get it some vitamin fortified food (if you arent already) to help it's immune system fight that off! just my thoughts.

he gets just mainly a pellet food and mysis or brine shrimp, what brands of the vitamin fortified food do you reccomend, it seems to be petruding further out his gill now, a pink fleshy substance still with the bubbles, his appetite and additude are still raging though, ill keeo you posted as to what i find and what i will try and do.

do yu have a quarantine tank you can put him in?

i would be worried not only about a pathogen but possibly other fish trying to bit/ pull it off him...i imagine he is the bully of the tank but, some fish can be quite pesky...

on the other hand i would not want to further stress him out either...

i believe most use sealcon (sp) to fortify their foods..garlic is good to i believe..

Cheers Nanoreefwanabe, i dont have a quaretine, and yeah the stress factor still does come into it when trying to tranport him to such a system, i dunno if maybe a UV would help at all? i am a little worried about him transmitting it to another fish, but i dont really have any fish in the tank that would want to clean him so to speak, its kinda a bit worse now than the pictures show, il take some more and post them tonight perhaps someone will have seen such a thing before, it still has me baffled! Other than that hes still eating fine, and swiming and active ust like normal, but i just dont know if its something that he will shake or if it is more terminal
