"help Help Help!!!"

Errrrrmmmm, why is it that every time I visit this board there is ALWAYS a different person asking for help, several threads realy?

I'm not saying that asking for help is wrong because it isn't, what I am asking is why are there so many people that are haveing problems keeping Anemones? I have kept an Anemone before (Hurricane Rita ruiend that) and I didn't have any problems keeping it alive and happy because I did some research before I bought the BTA.

..As far as i can tell, people always have problems with BTA's..which is weird because they are close to bulletproof..so its weird..ive kept them forever (about 3-4 yrs)..and never had a single problem..

Because things happen, and sometimes the causes of problems are not known, no matter the planning that goes into it. Also, some wild caught are already not doing great and then are purchased and the person who gets it has little experience or the anemone is already too far gone.

Nevertheless, While it is unfortunate there are a lot of *help* threads, this is the case with everything in reefing so get used to it. At least the people are seeking help and not just giving up.

wow soo we a go a mister know it all on our hands and his name is travis....

i started the BTA HELP! HURRY thread because i need help quick.

i researched about 2 months before i bought one. IT was perfect for about 2 weeks i had it then it start to deflate for most of the day and sometimes turn totalyy inside out and sometimes had its mouth open when its suppose to be tightly shut.. this is my first time to keep one soo isnt that wat this website is for is to ask for advice.

The board is here to ask questions... Myself I ask questions as well, I've had a rock anemone for 7 months in my tank, not 1 problem, bought a GBTA last week and had many questions even after reading about them for 2 months... We're only human...

without asking for hwlp here a few times im sure my bta would be dead. the same questions pop up often, but im so glad someone was here to help me. and now i try to pass along that help to the next person.

you can research anything forever, your still going to have a unique situation sometime or another

thats what reef central is here for. its the first and usually only place i go for help and questions

thank goodness they are asking here instead of the lfs!

Guys you are missing the point. In my post I said asking for help is GOOD.

What I am meaning by this thread is why is it so hard for some people to keep an Anemone, while for others it's easy.

i personaly had a heck of a time with my anemone at first.

I had a hydrometer...
I dident understand alkalinity
I dident understand evaporation!!!
I dident have a skimmer....
Nitrates were really high...
not enough lighting... 120watts pc!

then agian.... I also dident know of reef central yet.....
Found it.. and Im pretty sure I was about to have a tank crash before I did... man did I gobble up information.. it was overload lol
even got my mh thru reef central :)

I had a wild caught gbta that I added to an established 65g reef a few years back. The bta did great for 6 months then all of a sudden started walking then detached and just floated into the back. I gave up on it and removed it after no one here was able to help me.

Everything else in my mixed reef was fine. I had done about all the reading you could imagine. I had more than 1000 posts on here, so had engaged in many conversations about husbandry of species, etc. Fact is, I don't know what happened to this creature. No one here knew, either. All of my parms were "in check", I had done nothing out of the ordinary, and nothing seemed to be bothering it.

Sometimes, Travis, a species will suprise you. Even though you are doing well with yours now, doesn't mean you will always. But, if you have no problems, that is great.

Now I have an RBTA. Only had it for a couple months but it is doing great. I bought it from a local whose anemone split. This was sitting in his sump for a while and wandering constantly. Since it has been here it has chosen a spot and not moved, and it has done some coloring up. Does this mean things will always be perfect for me? Nope, this anemone could suprise me at any time. I will just do my best to keep my water quality high and the tank residents healthy, and if/when I need help i'll ask for it.

Best,
Angela

II believe that the ability to know when your defeated or unsure is the best thing.

When people ask for HELP they need help. Mabye a stupid question that a more expericened person may know in 2 seconds, but that dosen't make the person asking for HELP stupid of dumb for not knowing what they asked about.

Asking ?'s is the main way to learn and pass along info to others.

Thats the way the human race works. If you don't like then mabye don't read the HELP post!

but i asked u ealier if ur is doing so well what are u doing that makes ur soo good and mine bad.. any help?

I am not keeping an Anemone right now. The one I did ahve was in a different tank, but it got wipe out by Hurricane Rita. I am however setting up another tank where the Anemone will be the center focus of the tank. When it's up and running I will send you a link.
