Sorry, I doubt you will have luck here. Every octo fanatic that would be able to properly ID him will be on Tonmo. And you are already there so hopefully you can get an answer soon. Sometimes you won't be able to properly ID them; that's part of the fun!
 
Likely Octopus Vulgaris. Possibly Octopus Filosus/Hummelincki. Both are very similar in appearance, Vulgaris growing much larger of course. And Vulgaris doesn't have an eye-spot under each eye.

Does it ever flash eye-spots? That would be my deciding factor between the two. I don't think Filosus/Hummelincki are that common around Florida, but they are a Caribbean species so it's possible.
