just wondering......
what is it?
havent seen it puff up or send out tenticles but its only been like 3 days in the tank....

Looks like something that a LFS in my area sold as a "moon coral," and I've also heard the name "lettuce coral." I don't know how much that helps, as I don't know the latin names.

It could be quite a few different things from the photo provided. But, comparing it to the size of the zoanthids around it, I would venture a bet that the piece is pretty small, and so the 'valleys' are pretty small as well? If thats the case, I would guess Platygyra (though Pectina was my first guess too, until I realized the scale of the thing).

I'd say Pectinia too, possibly P. paeonia.
and it's not considered an SPS since each mouth gets to be about an inch and a half at full size.

its about the size of a mans fist....about 3 inches...came off a peice that was a total of 7 inches.......the valleys are about 1 inch deep....and it has little mouths in it.....

so i should just treat it like a maze?

It's an Oulophyllia bennettae, in my opinion. Very hardy. Captive care is about the same as Platygyra.Moderate to high light and moderate flow.
