Help identify this juvenile grouper

My best friend is starting his first 300gal predator tank. He went to bigals looking for a some predator fish however they sold him what I think may be a rather large fish, or will be. They sold him two miniatus groupers however I believe they look more like a red louti grouper, which are totally different in size much less not compatible to have two in the same tank. Can somebody much smarter then I please help me identify these fish for him, thanks.

Compare it to pictures of red louti groupers. I think that is what your friend has. A close up side picture will help. Great looking fish.

I've tried comparing pics online however all the pics I can find are mature adults. Here is a side view, not the greatest but the best I can get without netting and stressing the fish out more then he already is. Thanks for the help Cu!!
