I know this might be along shoot but I found this little thing about the size of a dime in the sand bed. The thing has a concave body with little finger like fellers all around the outside. the inside is smooth. Its brown in color. Ive been trying to get a pic but they don't come out any good. He has great camo. It almost looks like come kind of polyp but think and in the sand. Does anyone have a clue what this could be.

spaghetti worm?
try looking up that.

i have a bunch of them. harmless. if that is what you have..

It doesnt look like the pic of a spaghetti worn. The tenticale are not very long at all and there more like spikes.

is it sticky to the touch"baby carpet"? was my first guess. Also looks kinda like a little shroom of some sort. does it stay on top of the substrate or hide in it also?

Don't know if I'd touch it just yet. If it is a jelly, some of them pack a pretty good punch.

I'm thinking it's some kind of anemone or a jelly. It looks translucent like a jelly but could be either.

If you were closer I would come by and touch the as of yet unidentified substrate dwelling object just cause its not box shaped and swimming in the current, however Ill need to sign a waiver first I'm sure....

And I would go to watch to give you moral support.:D

Is it anchored to the substrate Rich or just sitting there?

If it's anchored it should be safe to touch and is most likely an anemone. There are some anemones that anchor in the substrate that are desireable and others that you would want to get rid of. If you see any small ones start to pop up I would pull them. If not ... enjoy.

If not anchored then I would think it's a jelly of some type.

well its still in the same place and has not move yet. The thing moves with the water but not swimming like. I notice like a mouth line the center and very faint pink stripes.

Gotta be some kind of anemone.

Just watch it and make sure it doesn't start multiplying. There is a type of anemone that lives in the sand and will take over your tank in short order if they get a good foothold.

Well Ive been watching this thing and it keeps makeing the center of it boby sink in then comes raised up. It does thing very slow
