Help identifying wrasse

My LFS sold me a wrasse, said it was a "Multi-color Wrasse", but I've had trouble identifying it online. Just curious as to exactly what kind it was... Thought maybe Multi-color Lubbock's fairy (?), but that doesn't quite look like this.. Thanks!

Thank you both! Hm, im wondering now.. I have a 3' tank, and thinking if I should bring him back for another type, or keep him until he grows too big. Was told he'd be OK though for a while.

He's maybe 2.5-3 inches or so now

I live in Brooklyn too! And both my LFS mis-identify things when I ask. I quit asking and now just do reefcentral google searches while I'm at either of them.

Yea I may start doing the same. I try to fact check as I'm there but it's tough sometimes lol. But it's great to find knowledgeable folks on here to help out

Just a question, the wrasse seems fine, but every now and then he will start flashing near the clowns area. It kinda freaks them out, they immediately go into their submissive dance, but and a few seconds later the wrasse will carry about his business as will the clowns.

Is this normal?

I think that's normal, but it could be a sign of aggressiveness. If you introduce any new Wrasse, or maybe even any new fish into the tank it, might be best to use an acclimation box.

Establishing hierarchy; pretty normal. So long as no one is doing harm to another, no worries.

But a big +1 on the acclimation box in the future.

Thanks! I'll keep an eye, doesn't seem to be doing any harm. Just makes the clowns go nuts :)

And I will get an acclimation box. THanks for the tip!
