what wattage of light is required to light a refugium of 3 liter's. Also My diplay tank of 30 liters has a marine light with 24W. Will that affect the performance of the refugium. I already have activated carbon and GFO for mechanical filteration also a dead coral rock and beach sand. for additional filteration.

carbon and GFO are chemical filtration..
GFO should ONLY be used when you have a phosphate problem.. It an actually cause more harm then good when used and not needed..

While wattage needed depends on the type of lighting LED vs CFL vs MH,etc... in general a small fuge like that doesn't need much light at all and a single 6500k CFL/LED bulb would do it just fine.. 10W of LED/CFL is plenty.. or a 40W incandescent

thank you for the reply. Will activated carbon, dead coral rock, some coral rubble and a refugium be enough for the filtration. If i am going to keep soft corals like green star polyps, pulsing xenia. Also thanks for the LED wattage I will use RED LEDs and keep it at 10 W.

The bacteria in our tanks does 99% of the work..
And yes what you have stated should be more than sufficient and certainly for such easy coral..

Thank you very much sir
