help me asap please - just got a clam and it looks damaged. ?

I just got a clam from mr coral, it was a "spend $75 and get a free clam deal" so, easy decision. even from their store, thats a good deal. anyways, it looks to me like the foot might be damaged. what do you think? Ive never had a clam before.

i will add more pics of it in the tank right away

theres a pic of what i think is the foot in the tank. then a pic of the guy after being in the tank for about 10 minutes. he is very responsive to me waving my hand over the light.

if thats what the foot looks like, im pretty sure my clam still has that. i saw it while hold the clam upside down under water to make sure he had no air bubbles in him. does that mean i can trim off the part thats hanging out of mine? what is it?

clams do that sometimes as mine do(25 clams)but it's okay and should do fine given the right conditions. I was looking at getting that teardrop maxima but went with the squamosa instead. Nice clam btw.

My clam did that right after I got it, too. He/she is just fine. Give it something to attach to and it will be OK!

thanks guys! thats good news. so this is a teardrop maxima? i noticed the teardrop pattern but wasnt sure if it was a maxima or not.
