hey everyone,
so im planning on setting up a new anemone and clown only tank that im currently building. but i have a couple questions for the nem vets. Id like to keep two typs of nems in thsi tank, but i have heard that different species will create a chemical warfare, like corals do. is that true? how much validity is there to this?

you should know the size of the tank before answering. 20x20x18.
31g tank. since its small i know this could be an issue. my second question is this, if i were to get a pair of snowflakes, could i also keep a second pair of say clarkis or something in there as well or will they fight? my guess is they will fight, but i wasnt sure because there will be multiple nems in the tank but i know its close quarters.

i plan on for sure keeping a flame bta, and a green w/orange tip one. i have a source for both of these rarer bubble tips and since this is all thats in the tank i wont mind spending the money on them.

the plan for the tank is to have no powerheads, just a strong return pump like an ehiem . id like to keep 3-4 nems in this.
i would like any and all advice, suggestions, expierance possible becaue i want this tank to look grea.

Like the idea but ready for the bubble burst, 1 pair only, clowns get agressive in a short amount of time. Tank is small so 2 BTA is the most you can put in there and still have alittle room for growth but not alot. I am in market for a flame as well. Any good source you care to share.?

This is a very small tank...I'd suggest getting one anemone and one pair of clownfish

Agree on both counts. With another pair of clowns you will still, most likely, end up with just one pair.

I am not a fan of mixing species of anemones, but even if I was not sure how you could do it in that sized tank. With that sized tank it would be very difficult for them not to be touching, which would cause issues.

thats what i figured with one pair of clowns. thats cool no problem doing that. well i want two bta's the flame and the more common but still sort of rare green w/orange tips. the other nem i wanted was a couple rock nems. theres a store out here that has a couple colors ive never seen so i was going to swoop them up. the flames ive seen are at a store out here in socal and ive seen them on cherry corals as well

to small for a carpet i assume? never had one of those always just kept btas. if the carpet were the only thing in there besides the clown would it get to big? i hear they can get huge

I have a Haddoni "carpet" in my 33 cube, and it is pretty much taking up all the room. One advantage I have is that when/if it gets too big for that tank I have 2 other (( larger )) tanks that I can move it too. You might be able to get away with a "carpet" (( should decide on which type you want )), with that sized tank, but be prepared if/when it outgrows it.

I would say only one pair of clowns. But 3-4 BTAs wouldnt hurt you. There shouldnt be to much of problem keeping 3 BTAs in a 30 gallon. The carpet will eventually out grow it.

Space is an issue that's why I keep small tanks. If it out grows I'd sell it and get another. Settled then, one pair of clowns and either 3 btas or 1 carpet I need to look into carpets a little more
