Help me choose - onyx or picasso

Yeah they should get along in a group of three. The most important factors involved with success here IMO are order of introduction, individualities and feeding the fish alot. As long as you the aquarist keep the agression in check by limiting resource once they establish a dominance heirarchy there should be no problem.

Just a quick update. The other Rod Onyx has been kicked out of the anemone. The picasso has been peaceful but the smaller onyx seems to attack the sibling whenever it gets near the anemone.

I might have to sell or setup another tank for the other onyx.

Well, I have two odd pairs of Onyx/Picasso in my 180 display and just purchased a "family" of Onyx for my new Hex tank. Rod helped me pick out my pair, plus three smaller mis-barred youngsters! :D

Here's a few of them:

And one more shot:

I think the Onyx have so much more character than the Picassos, but we'll see what happens if one of the pairs decide to mate!

Hope yours settle down like mine did gioNVA!

Wow...Fiberlux, they look great. I wish I lived closer to Rods. I'll definitely have to stop by his store if ever I'm in the area. How long have you had them together?

gioNVA, We'd love to have you visit Chi-Town! :)

Besides Rods, you'll want to visit the Shedd Aquarium too!

Let's see, the first two Onyx clowns were purchased ten months ago and the Picasso's were added a few months later. They chased each other for a few weeks, then paired off and have been fine ever since.

My latest batch (two older and three mis-barred juveniles have been in the Hex system for about two weeks, but they are happy and hungry.

BTW, Rod mixes a great batch of frozen food mix that all of my fish and corals love. It's been a local thing, but PA just started carrying it a month ago.
