i have a 225 (72x24x30) and i am currently in the process of setting up my future reef tank. I have the good fortune of having a free 48" long 8 bulb t5 fixture. My question is what other lighting will i need if any and which bulbs should i be using and in what order with this fixture. I plan on starting with soft corals and eventually want to have the ability to support lps and sps. My goal is to have a lighing setup that will be as energy efficient as possible while still giving me all of the options that i am sure i will want to explore someday. i was thinking about using a MH on each side of this fixture because i will have a foot of space on each side of the light. the problems i see with this include higher running costs and running at a higher temp. can a tank with only t5's support all types of corals?
