Help me decide on a future angel

So in your opinion I shouldn't even keep genicanthus?

Just my own take on it, but I was never a fan of the genicanthus. They look like a larger version of a damsel fish, which I despise. If price is not a factor, get the Goldflake. try to get small 2.5", not a juvenile per say. If you have patience and are willing to do everything to get a Regal to eat, including feeding clams by the half shell for what could be a long time, then add a Red Sea regal.

You will definitely want to stay away from the Goldflake. They do alot of nipping. I have a 5"er that has nipped everything in the tank. I only keep leathers, mushrooms, and a closed brain since I love angels. I would suggest either the Red Sea Regal or the Bluespotted.

In my tank right now I have a Chrysurus, a Blueline, a Goldflake, a juvi Red Sea Regal, and a Dwarf Multicolor. I have had a Bluespotted in the past and it was a model citizen. I am contemplating getting another one.

There's already a lot of info here; but for what it's worth, my keyhole angel seems to nip at my only zoa

Thank you for saying what has to be said. I agree 100%.

Personally I love the scribbled angel but I've never seen one that didn't nip or downright devour reefs.

Here's what I've gathered so far:

Regal Angel - hard to get to eat, potentially hard to acclimate. This is the first angel in my reef so it shouldn't have a problem with any other angels, but I've got an aggressive leopard wrasse that's going to have to come out and be put back in once the regal gets established. I'm planning on having a large QT tank set up just for the regal and I will make sure that it is eating very well prior to introducing it into my main display. A juvenile red sea regal is what I'm leaning toward.

Goldflake - may nip at corals, good looking fish. For some reason I'm thinking they get bigger than a regal?

Bluespotted - not really any info...where are you LargeAngels? :) I think LA's bluespotted is gorgeous. How are they about being reef safe?

Genicanthus - while I appreciate all of the suggestions and opinions the only species in this genus that I like are the watanabeis, so if I get one that will be the only kind :) These guys seem to be the only sure bet for reefsafeness. They seem to swim around quite a bit more than the other three angels I'm considering.

Keep the opinions and experiences coming, I appreciate the input :)

My suggestion is a pair of Centropyge angels of your choice. If you don't like that idea, out of the four you posted in your previous post my vote would go red sea regal, goldflake, bluespot, then last but not least watanabei.

Eventually I'll be getting an interruptus, and if I run across a stunning centropyge specimen of another species prior to then I may get a second cent. angel, but I'm really holding out for my interruptus :)
