I know, my pink skunks aren't picky about their host anemones. They are currently living in a Purple LTA in my 34 gallon. I have had the pink skunk in the 120 with the ocellaris before and.. well ..things didn't work out. So, they had to be put in another tank. I love my pinks, I wouldn't trade them for the world.
Todd, do you know of any Orange Skunk owners? If so send them my way..Thanks
Can they stand their own ground and put the tank mates in their place? Like, if the tank mates try to mess with them? I am worried about getting these fish and my hawk pestering them to death. Hubby wanted the arc eye hawk..so far our hawk has been a good little fishy. Haven't pestered any of our other fish and has let the skunk cleaner shrimp clean him. People say the hawk will eat my fish and the cleaner shrimp will be the first on his menue. I feed him silversides and figure if I feed him steaks he won't go hunting. Anyways.. do you think orange skunks are tough fish or should I be thinking about different clowns? Will they use any other host anemones besides the H. Crispa or S. Mertensii?
All I have is the Crispa so not sure what other anemones they like. There was a site that said which fish in the wild took to which anemones. I will try to think of it again. Mine do stand their ground but I don't know with that fish. I wish I could have helped you... sorry
Personally, I'm a big fan of cinnamons (amphiprion melanopus). I have a pair in my tank, but no anemone for them because I don't think one would do well under PC lighting. They seem to like my star polyps and hammer coral, though. I'm looking forward to upgrading them to a larger tank with stronger lighting so I can give them an anemone or two. I think my female may have contributed to the death of a bubble coral a few years ago.
OK, the votes are in..orange skunks it is. Thanks everyone for the help.
YAY! I don't have to get rid of my ocellaris. We just bought another tank its a 29 gallon. Yeah, why not put them in the 24 aquapod?..We tried that before and the ocellaris acted like it was too small for them.
