The title says it all. I ordered me a new 180 from glasscages last weekkend That is reef ready & have been debating on what type of sump to get. My prevous tank was no drilled so this will be my first reef ready style tank. Im only used to canister & hob type filters. I was thinking of having glasscages build me a sump but Im not familier enough with them & was looking for some input from some of you that have already gone through the trial & error period. I had an extra door put in the side of the stand so I could more easily fit a larger sump in there if needed.
Thanks
Jason

Glass Cages sells a 100 g acrylic sump that is pretty basic and reasonable and makes a nice sized sump. Are you going under the stand with all the equipment or can you go remote?

I just set up my 180 RR earlier this year. I made a sump like Melev's 58 gallon sump. The only difference was that the center was the return. I would still make the center bigger if I did it over again, and the first section smaller. It depends if your skimmer will be in the sump or outside. I started inside, then upgraded to a big dog skimmer that sits outside. Now I have a lot of room in the first section that I don't really need.

Good point Chappy. What type of skimmer, are you going to run a kalk reactor, Ca reator?

What other goodies will be stationed in the sump?

Whatever you do, make the sump as big as you can, leaving room for other "goodies" that will be hidden in your stand. I'm out of room in my stand just housing my ballasts and skimmer.

wILL do. I was thinking of maybe a 75 or 100 gall sump just because of the room. could you post a pic of your sump chappy?

Are you going to try to fit a fuge into that volume too. Or will the fuge be a separate tank?
