In the 6+ years of being in this hobby, I have never had a problem with flatworms!!! until now!

like many of you, i tend to have a slightly more relaxed maintenance schedule over the summer months, and then get back into high gear right about now. I notice i have flatworms in fairly large quantities on several areas of my liverock and on my substrate. I have roughly 300 total gallons and did a small (20g) water change a few days ago just. I usually do around 50g of water changes per month, as i only have a few fish, although over the past few months i've done about half of that.

In any event, Ive never had this problem before. They dont seem to be killing anything, they're just UGLY. I have 2 vortech MP40's in my tank, which ive just repositioned to accommodate better water flow and use an my return pump moves about 1000gph.

siphoning them out is not easy to do, since access to the tank is only from the back (inwall) and it is nearly impossible to see them from the top. Does anyone have the "secret weapon"?

thanks in advance

After plenty of futile siphoning, I just bit the bullet and dosed Salifert's Flatworm Exit. If you take proper precautions, it's quite effective.

thanks.....after doing some searches, that seems to be the popular method. As much as I hate putting anything in my tank, im going to consider it, these things are EVERYWHERE

picked up a bottle of Blue Life Flatworm Control today. For roughly 300 gallons, i did 120 drops, and within 20 minutes there was a "sandstorm" of dead flatworms in the tank. So far, this stuff worked wonderfully.
