Help me ID and some advice please

This live rock has what appears to be clams build in? They open and close a lil bit when I tap glass or hit them with the flashlight

I cant see anything in the pics but typically I would expect it to be a bi-valve of some sort. They are usually regarded as a harmless and beneficial filter feeder.
 
I've seen clams grow up in small holes in rock such that they can't get out as they get bigger. Clams are good filter feeders if you can keep them alive.
 
Yeah... Sorry the camera on my cell phone sucks..
It's not in any hole or anything... This rock has 4 or 5 of them that are alive... And a dozen or more that are dead... It's like the bottom of the clam is literally a part of the rock. And with the dead ones.. Just the tops of them are gone.. It's almost if the shell and the rock is made of the same material and sorta fused together
