My tank (75g + 30g sump) has been up for 1 1/2 years now. I have a duncan w/30 or so heads losing them, acan doing the same, already lost a torch and a real nice candy cane. Chalice and favia seem to be doing ok. all the SPS (8) are growing like weeds. 20 or so zoa colonies are doing ok, but not great. Palys are doing well tho.
I'm doing 2 part, recipe #2, CA hovers between 390-410 and Alk flucs between 7-8 dkh. I'm dosing 50ml/day of each by hand. Don't have a mag test kit (< problem?), PH constant 8.2, PO4, NO3 not measurable. Running skimmer and ATS. Salinity 1.025, temp runs between 77 - 79.5.
All started when I started doing Kalk about 2 months ago (stopped since) and got crazy with it (ph spike?). The LPS started losing their heads. The torch and candy cane went pretty quick. The duncan just doesn't open very much and has now lost half it's head and I'm trying to figure out if I can salvage it. The acan is opening and puts out feeders when I feed, but it's still losing heads too.
I've been doing between 10 and 30g water changes as often as I can generate the water to do so. This week I've done a 30 on monday, 15 on Tues, 10 yesterday and I just couldn't get to it tonight. Normally, I'll do 10g/week. I use IORC.
Whats driving me crazy is that ALL the SPS are doing great. Maybe with the ATS, my PO4 is too low?
Any ideas what to look for?
