help me pick a skimmer!!

hey everyone, i have a 92 corner with refugium and a css 65 skimmer. needless to say it is alright for the price (got it for free) but its about time i believe to man up and buy a new skimmer. I need something that can either be mounted externally such as a recirculating skimmer, or an in sump skimmer with a footprint of less then 12x12. I was thinking either ASM, REEFDEVIL, recirculating octopus, bubblemasters, anything that will give me great skimming capabilities, is not ridiculously expensive, and wont be to incredibly loud (hopefully). also, does nayone know about currents new line of recirculating skimmers coming out that has a "paddlewheel" impeller?

I have a tunze 9010 on my corner and love it, small, quiet, powerful and easy to maintain. Another option would be an octopus nw150, it should fit and is cheap ($140). I do not know if I would bother with a recirculating unit, but never had one. The nw150 is about equal to the asmG3 and the g3 would not fit (have one too big, they say 11 x 12, but that is pushing your space)

I am in the same boat, I only have a 10g sump so space is limited. I think im going to order a octopus 150, I saw someone here on RC has a nw200 in a 10g so I shouldnt have trouble with space. Does anyone know a cheap place to order the oct nw150? Thanks

how do the tunze skimmers compare to asm and the octopus? very simply... what is the best skimmer that will fit, regardless of price?

I have an ASM G3 recirc and gate valve modded. Looking at doing the mesh mod in another week. It works mighty good for me. I believe the RO NW200 would be as good as my G3 right out of the box. Its a much bigger skimmer, costs less also. The Tunze units I have never used but hear nothing but good things about them.

the asm is a euro reef knock off, so if you dont care about intellectual property the asm is the way to go. the mods are just a bonus. once the plastic gets a good coating inside, it will produce some stinky skimmate for you.

The G3 is a good peice but i dont think it is on par performance wise with the new line of ER skimmers. ER has improved their pumps/impellers and I dont think ASM has.Also the price differance is getting alot closer. As I said before I run a G3 now but when I upgrade it will be a RO NW most likey.

does anyone have any pics they could post of their skimmers working? I am leaning more towards the octopus line of skimmers since they seem to have a much smaller footprint. Also, does anyone here know about e.t.s.s. skimmers or the reefdevil? a friend at my lfs is saying i should get the reefdevil deluxe cause it kicks ***.... but everyone says asm with the mess mod and gate valve, or the octopus cause it performs just as well without mods.
oh adn the nw-150 is roughly 200$ shipped via ups ground on ebay. is that a good price?

I use an AquaC ev120. I think it works good and fits tightly in my 9"X12" area.

It is a bit of a pain to tune. But after that 2 week learning curve. Its great. and fits in them tight areas.

Them Octopus, with the recirc needlewheels, are pretty sweet too. I think.. the 2000 model #

I have the same skimmer (EV-120) but with a Eheim 1260 pump. Works MINTS!

The ER is a deltec/H&S knockoff, so dont get all into IP, because you're fighting a losing battle there.

The way I look at it, as usual, you get what you pay for. I had a Aquamedic Turbofloater 1000 multi. The Aqua-C kills it in performance.
